Little bit of information about me

My family and I moved to the states from England when I was a teenager. We lived in Minnesota where eventually  was the placekicker, kickoff man and punter for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2003 to 2004. Iwas also a two-time All-American placekicker for Rochester Community and Technical College. I became famous for my "rugby-style punting", amazing concentration under pressure and long-distance field goals. Teammates and my old coach, referred to me by the nickname "Winston Churchill", after the British prime minister who led the United Kingdom through World War II.  I would say in college I was best remembered for a 42-yard field goal in the dying seconds of the 2003 Sun Bowl to beat the University of Oregon 31-30 but what is repeatedly shown is my field goal against Wisconsin in the Paul Bunyan Axe game. This can still be seen on ESPN highlights every year on the Saturday that game is played.

I was signed as an undrafted free agent to the Ravens in '05 and then released before the start of the Pre Season, the following year I was signed to the Green Bay Packers but was released a month later. From there I took some time to think about what my future might hold. I knew I still had it in me to kick, so I went over and played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the now defunct, NFL Europa league. I was made special teams player of the week by tying the NFL Europa longest field goal made.

From there I was signed again to the Baltimore Ravens and then released before the last game of the season where the Carolina Panthers picked me up. I then was given the reputation as the "kickoff specialist". I kicked off for John Kasay and learned a lot from him, however, was never given a shot to do field goals. After 2 years with the Panthers (2008-2010), I was released and signed to the Minnesota Vikings where I played alongside Ryan Longwell for the Preseason (2010). I was then released before the start of the season due to the numbers game and carrying two kickers was not high on their list. With the unfortunate injury to the Panthers rookie kickoff man, I was flown back to Carolina where I played one final year as a Panther.

Then the lockout happened and I ended up doing all kicking duties for an injured Lawrence Tynes for the NY Giants. I had a good pre-season, but once Tynes was healthy- I was again...released. Since then I have had many workouts with various teams and had fantastic ones at that. I believe I still have what it takes to be a full fledged kicker in the NFL if only a coach would believe I am more than just a kickoff guy.

That is why this off season I have committed myself to my health and fitness to really make this coming year count. I want to be in the best shape of my life and not be self conscious about what coaches think about my weight and body. Coaches and teams have a perception of what a kicker should look like and unfortunately my body has not looked like your typical kickers (but neither has some who are top in the league), anyway, I want to maintain my strength I have and not lose that power and drive, but I also want to be a bit more fit. I have been trying many different products out there with no results until I found Advocare, which has honestly been a huge help to me. The 24 Day Challenge is where I have started and I will be blogging my progress on this page. I also feel confident taking their products as they are the only ones guaranteed with no banned substances.
